First photo (below) DD Mity Wrangler on the left, 1998 Sorrel Overo
Gelding, stands 16.1 hh, 1500 lbs. He sired
PRR Painted Wranglers (a.k.a. "Lacey" - mares
page for details on his bloodlines) and PRR Paint On My Wranglers
(Chloe - sold page). He is also pictured with Bruce's father
- Walter Martin - riding bareback (attached).
Although I often
have to find a big stump to get on this guy in the bush - it is worth the effort once you
get up there! He is very easy
going, safe and laid back - we use him for green or nervous riders and fortunately have
never been in a "pickle" to
have to use him as a "pack horse"! He is great for ponying the colts and loves
pulling and working. I real nice gelding
who we should have actually used for a sire just a little longer.

Right Side in photo above - The gelding you see alot of with Bruce - This is his
pride and joy SILENT BILLIE LEE,
1994, 15.3 hh, 1400 lb. Sorrel tobiano gelding. He is out of a tobiano mare - Crystal
Dixie Lee and out of a great
halter stallion - How D Billie Boy who qualified for and was shown at the AQHA world show
in halter. Bruce found
Bill (or actually I think it was the other way around) Bill found Bruce at an Alberta
Paint Horse Sale in Red Deer in
1997. Bill was a three year old and full of his own ideas - he hadn't been started and you
could tell needed a "special"
someone to help him with his "misguided" ideas. The first year or two together
was "eventful' and the two found
themselves in many tight predicaments together. They grew together and have become an
"insperable" pair. Bill has
an amazing "bush" sense and has helped the younger, less experienced horses in
some very tight spots on our mountain
trips. When separated from our care & safety - it was Bill that looked after the lost
herd for a few lost days & nights and
carefully guided them safely back to the staging area where they we found them much later!
Bill is to us - like a "tractor"
is to a dirt farmer - you can't be without these "Valuable" tools of the trade!
He & Wrangler often teach the colts more
than we could ever hope to teach them - they learn from example - so you must have
"fine" examples. Bruce has been
asked many times if he is "for sale" and has refused very "healthy"
offers. Please don't ask if he is for sale - there are
some we just can't sell - what would a "dirt farmer be without a tractor? Likewise -
what would a cowboy be without
his good horse!

Photo on left: Right Equine is PRR
Target on my Tail (aka - Casper) and on left is PRR Dreamin in Class
(aka Steve).
Although these two geldings are quite young - they have already proven to be reliable
honest, mountain horses. (See Janice Bourques testimonials on sale
page). They are proudly owned by Jancie & Neil Bourque of Blufton Alberta.
They have already been packed, ponied the pack horses and Steve had to actually catch a
broncy pack horse - tearing down the trail. Neil promptly got a quick dally on that guy
and Steve set back and held him till he settled down.
This guy would make a great pick up horse! Another pair - don't bother asking if they're
for sale. |
Photo below, CT Gallantly
(2nd from the right in the group photo)- yep, our good ole herd sire. Believe it or not we
have used this guy on occasion when there is no one else closer to grab or trailer. He
loves getting out, is quite sure footed and very well behaved! You can see he's kinda got
an interest in "Little Sugar" there, but he does mind his P & Q's when on
the trails or in a group. He just kinda one of those "Grab N Go" kinda guys -
even if we haven't ridden him for a year or two!

Photo at right, this is another gal
that we just "Grab N Go" if we're in a bind for horses. PRR
Painted Wranglers - seen here at three years old with only five or six
rides with seven year old Amanda Martin on the lines! Lacey has always been real
easy to catch, willing, laid back and honest - just the way we like em! She is often the
one we will catch and ride bareback with halter as we bring the other broodmares and foals
back and forth from the home quarter to summer pasture. She is a real treat & her
foals are just like her! (see testimonials page - one went
to the Baader Family from Stony Plain as a weanling, the other filly to Kelsey Hecker of
Alaska).
Photo below, Laurie Gair of Vancouver BC on PRR PAINTED ON LEVIS.
Although just two, this guy is going to be a heck of a recreation horse - very mature
minded and fearless on the trails. Laurie will be riding Grouse mountain in the summers
and off then off to Arizona with Levi & family for the winter. Way to go Levi - you
lucky dog - ain't going to miss these Saskatchewan winters are ya budd!

PRR Painted On Levis (mention above
left) - more photos. Here he is packing
solo as a two year old at Prince Albert
National Park, August 2007. Next photo, Bruce
riding "Levi" under saddle with halter on day five of the trip. (In the
photo you can also see Neil and three year old "Steve" mounted in the
background).

PRR I AINT NO SAINT (aka -
Pete) out of the great mare - Mea Whiskeys Fantasy
(who can you tell is my favorite mare?) and sired by three time APHA Superior sire
(pleasure, trail western riding) Saint
Pats Scat.
Pete is a 2004 Brown (looks black) gelding, that currently stands 15.1 and about 1300 lbs.
(big, stout boy!). He is currently my most favorite recreation horse on the Ranch. He has
been used to pack (just the right size - also easy to get on!) and we have used him to
move cattle a little. He was shown at open & APHA shows as a yearling - winning all
his halter classes at the open shows and placing well at the paint shows. Will do just
about anything and look real good doing it!
Thank you & Congratulations to Jennifer, Trevor Malone and
family of Smith, Ablerta. We really appreciate this caring family giving "Pete"
an opportunity to prove his talents and abilities; and for loving him unconditionally
despite his disability. We know we couldn't have found a better home for our very special
"special needs" guy!! THANK YOU!! |
